Tranquility

Painted en plein air at our regional arboretum. With all the trees in bloom the green was almost overwhelming. Deciding how to make all that green interesting was the challenge in this piece.  It began with an underpainting of hard pastel and oderless mineral spirits and was finished with a variety of soft pastels in warm and cool greens for the tree canopies.
